Beyond Judgment is a show dedicated to understanding that we are all connected, that the only purpose that judgment serves is to divide us. My plan for this podcast is to celebrate the stories of ordinary people and by doing so help you the listener get to know someone you might not otherwise get to know. We are all living lives invisibly around each other taking part in many cases as an extra in each other's stories. The aim of this show is to demonstrate that we are more alike than we are different.
The theme of this week's episode is FFT or effing first time.
We aren't born into wisdom, knowledge has to be extracted through trial and error, through failure and getting back up and building experience through practice. There truly is a first time for everything. This is my first podcast episode. Is it perfect, nope but as Theodore Roosevelt once said "The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena". I am in the arena and it might be a bumpy ride for a short time but I'm fully confident that over time the mistakes I hear in this episode will disappear and I will be better for it.
We know that when we are first starting out with something, no matter what it is, that we will stumble but the only way we truly fail is if we abandon what we are working towards.
This week I had the privilege to sit down with my niece Courtney for a wide ranging discussion about her life thus far. We talked about her early years, her transition to teaching, adventure which underpins her experiences, the community that she has developed and lessons learned along the way.
This episode is packed with life lessons, quotes to live by, strategies to reframe how we approach life's obstacles, and the power of mediation as well as so much more.
A special thank you to Tim Langton for his work with the podcast introduction. If you want more information about his voice-over work, check Tim out at https://timlangton.com/.
