FHCC: Audio Channel

Like so many of us, the disciples were eager to celebrate Jesus' resurrection at first, only to return to our crappy lives and excuses. Following Jesus is not about a decision in our personal history, but a dedication & ongoing experience with His presence. FOLLOW HIM, don't merely believe His story. John 21:1-25.

The crucifixion of Jesus is not the end of the story, nor is it even the most important part. Salvation is secured, not in His death, but His victory over death. However, it is only those who experience and believe (live different) in the resurrected Lord who are saved. Have you experienced the Resurrected Jesus? It's not a one-way transaction or method; but it is contingent upon the ONE Lord. John 20:1-31.

It is a historical fact: Jesus died. It is a tragedy born of the plan of God and the will of man. Yet, even in this, God is glorified and we find hope. Hope that in all things, we, too, may, and should, glorify God. John 19:16-42.

Jesus goes on trial, but it is the world that is exposed and condemned. Judas is found with marauders, Peter tries to do it alone, the High Priest is haunted by his words, and Pilate is a powerless appeaser. Any one of these sound familiar? John 18:1-19:16.

We're back! After a few weeks off, we resume podcasting from the Gospel of John. After explaining SALVATION and His expectations in chapters 13-16, Jesus now prays for its fulfillment in the lives of ALL Disciples. The work of Jesus must continue IN and THROUGH us. Jesus prays for us to do this…so don't make His prayers ineffective. John 17:1-26.

Jesus continues His message of meaning and hope to His disciples. After a series of surprises and disappointments, Jesus reminds His followers not to be anxious. If they believe in Him, they, too, shall inherit His reward and relationship. This is what being a Christian is all about. John 14:1-11.

What does it really mean to be a Christian? Some many answers and expressions, yet Jesus makes it crystal clear in John 13. Only when we love and serve like Jesus, for the same REASON as Jesus, will the world know us as Christians, and will we enjoy the privilege. John 13:31-38.

Continuing to instruct the disciples from His illustrated sermon and feet-washing, Jesus reminds them that they are only His IF the do as He has done. This is not a call to literal 'feet washing,' but rather all acts of submission and in accordance with the will of God. Like Jesus, His disciples must NOT pursue their own will. Like servants, they must take the lowly position and serve the will of God. Judas sought his own will, dishonored God, and lost it all. Will we 'wash feet' in His name or raise our own heel against Him? John. 13:12-20.

In chapter 13-17, Jesus turns His attention solely to His disciples. After years of ministry declaring who He is, where He came from, and where He is going, the Hour has now come for Him to prepare His disciples. Being a follower of Jesus means 'living and ministering' just like Jesus - full of love, humility and worldly rejection because of love FROM (and FOR) the Father. John 13:1-11.

Jude is a little book full of wild images and stories we are not familiar with. The subject of his book concerns "false teachers" within the church who are corrupting the faith. But how has such a tragedy occurred? Bad things happen when we assume the gift of God is license to sin or fulfill our personal "wants." Like so many others in history (above and below), we forfeit our salvation when we forget that Jesus alone is LORD. Jude.
