In the dead cold of a Wyoming winter, rancher Calder Wynn begins documenting a series of impossible disturbances on his property: mutilated livestock, strange tracks, missing time, and a growing sense that something in the woods is watching him think. What begins as a practical effort to make sense of a predator turns into a descent into something far older, more intimate, and more malicious than any animal. As Calder follows the evidence deeper into the frozen dark, he comes face to face with a creature that does not behave like a beast, but like a witness.

Told through field recordings, fragmented testimony, and Calder’s own unraveling account, this episode blends frontier isolation with existential horror, building toward a confrontation that leaves behind more questions than blood. The thing in the woods can be tracked, aimed at, even wounded. What Calder cannot understand is why it seems to know him already.
