Fiery Biscuits Episode 2 - 5 Favorite Games

Listen Later

The GF and I talk about 5 of our favorite games.
That’s the episode but I have a 4 thousand character limit. I’m gonna write a short story to put here.
The Dramatic Pong Championship of 1973
The backsplash of high rises against the deep blue afternoon. Competition was the coming storm, filling the air with electricity. Today was the single, biggest event, possibly of all time in the history of man. The first, and last, Pong Championship. The insane amounts of talent and athleticism all cumulated into two, perfect beings. Riley “The Pong Predator” Flynn and Billie “The Death Paddle” Lee. After a year of competitions, it all came down to this. The two greatest athletes of the human race.
The stage was set, Pong was set up and being projected onto massive screens in the middle of Madison Square Garden. Every seat filled, everyone else glued to their black and white TV screens. The world on edge.
Billie came on stage first in their flamboyant entrance. I’m talking white tigers, fireworks and jets overhead. The crowd ate it up.
Riley was late, though. 10 minutes went by, then 20. Billie looked to be crowned without even a fight but finally Riley came running to the stage.
Their shirt tattered, bleeding, out of breath. They accused Billie of hiring a mafia hit squad to take them out! Billie shrugged, denying everything.
The referee stepped in. Saying something along the lines of “there’s no time for that, let’s get to pong!” The crowd exploded. The game began.
Riley served and the little beep could be heard around the world. Billie scrambled to return, barely getting to the ball in time. Beep. Riley spun the ball, flying fast and high to the top of the screen! Billie tried but failed to get to it in time. 1-0. Riley thought to themselves “9 more to go”.
Billie answered back with a few points of their own. They were neck and neck. The score hit 6-6 when Billie’s girlfriend ran on stage to their side. She confessed to cheating on Billie, with Riley the night before! Riley smiled a devilish smirk before taking advantage of Billie’s sadness and scoring another point. 7-6.
8-6 and 9-6 came quick. It looked like Riley was going to take the win when the doors bust open and in came Marco “Horseface” Romagnoli, infamous hitman for the Romagnoli crime family, rushed to the stage. “You’ve paddled your last pong, pong predator” he yelled before hitting Riley in the back of the knee with an iron bar, knocking them down. Security quickly grabbed Horseface but the damage was done. Riley was a competitor, though, and kept playing. But they were dazed. 9-7. 9-8. Billie was catching up.
Billie lined up another shot but before he could execute another point, an official looking man in a suit grabbed him and pulled him down. “Watch out” he yelled. Billie did serve the ball in time, though. “There’s a sniper!” The man yelled, the shot meant for Billie striking right where his head was a moment ago. Riley smirked again but ultimately failed to return the ball. 9-9. The man then pulled an RPG, launching a rocket at the sniper on the catwalk overhead.
It all came down to this final point. Billie and Riley’s eyes both lit up and sparkled. Back and forth the ball went, Billie and Riley ascended to a higher plane of existence. The whole place rumbled and shook, it’s like they were levitating. Modern gods fighting with unearthly powers. The whole world was moments away from ultimate destruction.
They both spontaneously combusted, vanishing before the worlds eyes and a quietness took hold. Billie was the last to hit it and with neither of them there, the ball slowly made its way to the opposite side before making a buzz. Billie technically winning.
Every government in the world came together to declare pong be outlawed, for if two people even slightly stronger ever come to be and battle in pong, the world would end. Where Death Paddle and The Pong Predator went, no one ever knew.
