Years ago Tracey Thurman said, “It wasn’t a personal attack on me on the part of the police.  They just weren’t trained for that back then.  As I read that statement, it made me wonder, yet again, how much have we learned since then?  Have we been able to change our thinking and become better advocates for targets of domestic violence? We examine the 2018 case of Anako Anette Lumumba as a reference to see the progress made.
