Hey there History Fans! We're back and starting our new year with a bang of a series. What happens when the King of England dies and has no male heirs? He tries to pass it to his daughter- or hopes that it would. In the 1100s there was an 18 yearlong feud between Empress Matilda and her cousin, Stephen, for the right to rule England. On the first part we are covering the life of Empress Matilda, from her first marriage to a Holy Roman Emperor, to her second marriage into the House of Plantagenet. We also discuss her relationship with her father, Henry I, as well as her children, the nobles of England and the English clergy.
