Welcome to Episode 2 of our series on the fight for the throne of England. This week we are discussing the life and rule of King Stephen I. Stephen of Blois was born into privilege and was, partly, raised by Henry I in England. He was also one of the wealthiest landowners in England at the time. During Henry's reign Stephen swore oaths to Matilda as Henry's successor. However, when Henry died, Stephen was the first to cross to London and take the crown. He ruled for almost 20 years, but he rarely saw a moment of peace. Join us we cover Stephen's life, rule, family, wars and death.
