Since RoofKIT focuses on sustainability, we want to talk about building in an existing context with our guest Sophia Schmidt from LRO. Besides the work as an architect, she also teaches as a research assistant at the KIT in Karlsruhe. Sophia has a lot of experience in the field of dealing with existing structures and will give us a deeper insight into her work and also the work of LRO.
Rasa Weber is a designer and founder based in Berlin. Her design concepts are driven by a strong narrative approach and innovative material research. In her works she creates a link between the creative industries, research and art. She works in the field of interior design, product design and film. She also lectures at the University of the Arts Berlin, University Anhalt Dessau, OCAD University Toronto and University of Leeds.
In our fourth episode of "Fighting 40%" we talk about the future of cities from the aspects of politics, density, mobility and participation. What should be the goals for young architects in the future? It's time to question "non-negotiable truths" in architecture and to fundamentally rethink the practice.
Welcome to the third episode of Fighting 40%. In our last episode, we talked to our guest Dirk Hebel about the topic of Urban Mining and about sustainable thinking in the construction industry. In this episode we want to deepen this topic with our new guest Professor Petra Riegler-Floors.
Ms. Riegler-Floors is a professor for construction and resource management in architecture at the Trier University of Applied Sciences since 2020. She also works as a freelance writer and independent architect. Her publications include the Manual of Recycling which is very popular among architects and architecture students.
Since the post-war period, we have been surrounded by an anthropogenic warehouse of over 50 billion tons of material. This warehouse grows every year by another 10 tons per inhabitant. Much of it is located in buildings. Wouldn’t this warehouse be a potential resource for the construction industry of the future? In the new episode of Fighting 40%-Podcast is this the question we discuss with our guest Professor Dirk Hebel. Tuesday, 8 p.m. on stream and UKW 104.8.
We are the RoofKIT podcast team and represent the KIT at the Solar Decathlon 2021. Our podcast “Fighting 40%” was created as a part of the international competition. Our topics are the relationship between architecture and urban design, but above all sustainability and future-oriented thinking. In the first episode we want to introduce ourselves, explain the origin of „Fighting 40%“ and give you a short impression of what RoofKIT is actually doing.
