Fighting for Captain's Control

Listen Later

Fighting for Captain's Control: Who is Your Captain?

Bible Verse: 1 Peter 5:5b, 7-9a (NLT)

Key Point: We need to surrender control to God and trust Him to be our Captain.

Show Notes:

The passage starts with a call for humility. God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.

Analogy of a boating trip:

The speaker wants to be in control of the boat (representing life).

The speaker struggles to surrender control and feels anxious.

Eventually, the speaker chooses to trust God.

Realization: The desire for control stems from pride.

The devil exploits our weaknesses (desire for control) to disrupt our peace.

We need to:

Humble ourselves and confess our tendency to take control.

Recognize Satan as our adversary and resist his attempts to control us.

Trust Jesus Christ as our Captain and surrender our worries to Him.

Closing Prayer:

A prayer asking God for forgiveness for wanting our own way and strength to submit to His will.
