In Matthew 12:43-45, Jesus gave an illustration about a demon returning to a man from which he’d been cast out only to find he had not filled the void left by him. As a result, the demon reentered the man with seven other’s worse than himself. Spiritually, when a void is left from the removal of sin it must be filled with righteousness that more evil might not return to fill us.
