Blindspots is back! Our hosts hit the road to check out two films concerning the deranged lives of vicious killers. Up first, Jake introduces Kristy to David Lynch’s Palme d’Or-winning riff on The Wizard of Oz, Wild at Heart, starring Nicolas Cage and Laura Dern as two lovers on the run. Then, Kristy shows Jake the directorial debut of Dominic Sena, Kalifornia, wherein David Duchovny and Michelle Forbes accompany the deadly pairing of Brad Pitt and Juliette Lewis on a car trip. What’s in the cup? Why, it’s a new episode of Blindspots, of course! Jake and Kristy return with a pair of riveting 90s crime films from two American auteurs. Up first, Jake introduces Kristy to the seedy underbelly of the 1990s New York crime scene, headed up by Christopher Walken and a murderer’s row of character actors in Abel Ferrara’s King of New York. Then, Kristy takes Jake to 1993 to check out Clint Eastwood’s Kevin Costner-starring hostage road movie, A Perfect World. All this and more on an all-new episode of Blindspots. And that’s a fact.

We here at the Blindspots podcast would like to express that not every film we cover is a certified classic, nor does each film selected for discussion necessarily have to be one that either host holds any real fondness for. With that being said, for this month of November, we’re bringing another special themed month in the form of Thanksgiving movies! Up first, Kristy introduces Jake to Jodie Foster’s 1995 comfort food film about visiting your relatives at Home for the Holidays. Then, Jake takes Kristy to 2007 where ThanksKilling, a film about a wise-cracking, homicidal turkey, was cooked up into existence. Up first, Jake takes Kristy back to the eve of America’s bicentennial with Robert Altman's sprawling country music masterpiece, Nashville. Following that, Kristy and Jake buckle up for the ride of their lives in Martin Scorsese's haunting and criminally undervalued 1999 masterwork, Bringing Out the Dead. It's a hustle-and-bustle episode, full of star-studded casts, tricked-out tricycles, speeding ambulances, and more!

Like those Amblin dinosaurs once said: We’re back! Blindspots returns from a several-monthlong hiatus, and our hosts are bringing the laughs in the form of a largely defunct genre: the classic American studio comedy. Up first, Jake recommends Peter Bogdanovich’s 1972 romantic screwball masterpiece, What’s Up Doc? Then, Kristy brings Jonathan Lynn’s excellent 1993 courtroom comedy, My Cousin Vinny, to the table. It’s an episode filled with Barbara Streisand, Joe Pesci, car chases, grits, and more!

Hey, all you freaks, zombies, and sexy space vampires: the party’s over! On this episode of the podcast, Jake and Kristy revisit some of the more gruesome films that were a formative part of their childhood years. Up first is 1993’s Freaked, the twisted brainchild of Alex Winter that become a part of the regular viewing rotation in Kristy’s household. Then, it’s on to Jake’s recommendation with 1985’s Lifeforce, the Cannon Films-produced, Dan O’Bannon-penned, Tobe Hooper-directed intergalactic horror apocalypse. Not content with stopping there, the podcast hosts break format to gush over a film they love: Peter Jackson’s Dead Alive, the ultimate film in zombie horror-comedy carnage. All that and more on an all-new Blindspots!

On this episode of the podcast, Jake and Kristy celebrate Thrillvember with another special double episode! They bring four films to the table to discuss: two by land and two by sea. Up first, they take a look at Walter Hill’s 1978 neo-noir LA car chase picture, The Driver. Next, it’s a trip down under with Phillip Noyce’s 1989 maritime thriller, Dead Calm. Then, they take a trek on William Friedkin’s perilous journey through the jungle in 1977’s Sorcerer. Lastly, they close things out with Martin Scorsese’s 1991 remake of the film with the same name, Cape Fear. All this and more on an all new Blindspots!

On another special double episode of the podcast, the pair delve into a varied selection of films, including Dario Argento's 1975 Giallo, Deep Red; Guillermo Del Toro's 2001 Spanish Civil War-era ghost story, The Devil's Backbone; Nobuhiko Obayashi's 1977 bonkerously phantasmagorical trip to the countryside, House; and Toby Wilkins' 2008 parasitic single-location chiller, Splinter. Rather than recommend a film to each other, Jake and Kristy check out a pair of films suggested to them by two listeners, neither of which they have seen. Up first is Paula's pick, Hal Ashby’s 1973 film The Last Detail, an existentialist drama about two Naval officers escorting a third to prison. Then, they discuss Jerry's pick, Poetry, South Korean filmmaker Lee Chang-dong’s 2010 film about an elderly woman struggling to keep her life together. All of this excitement and more!
