Final Approach was a fun, fun read!
From the opening scene to the final page, Final Approach was filled with plot twists, intriguing characters, and a surprising amount of action. As the stakes escalate for the protagonist, we're given insight into both an under-reported criminal underworld and the high-adrenaline culture of skydiving. Final Approach was a really, really fun read. I look forward to seeing more from this talented new writer.
Can't wait for the sequel!
Had my book club meeting tonight and met the author. It was great to find out interesting background info. about the characters and settings of the book. This is a great mystery with a unique locale. Can't wait for more of Emily's adventures. Thanks Rachel Brady for meeting with the Bookin' Babes!
Hang on for a skydiving mystery.
Rachel Brady's FINAL APPROACH is a gut wrenching mystery about a black-market of kidnapping & selling babies. You will find great skydiving descriptions, inventive sleuthing, an astonishing family reunion and a long overdue conclusion that will satisfy any reader.
Emily Locke recognizes Mattie Shelton - missing child - in a restaurant. Her first thought was to call the police but after some rational thinking she approached the table and began admiring the precious baby. On the inside of his wrist she identified a small hemangioma and she knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that he was indeed the missing child. She gathers her wits and calls the police and shares everything. Mattie goes home with her real parents but not all is well when mysterious and suspicious things start happening to Emily including the death of her husband, Jack and her baby Annette. Something is just not right.
Almost 4 years later, Richard Cole the former Detective now a PI contacts Emily and convinces her that she needs to help him by going undercover at a Texas Skydiving School. Somehow there is a missing child involved - hence Emily's willingness to agree. Surprisingly - she goes. It is a stretch I know but go with it you won't be disappointed. OK?
Pull up a comfortable chair and enjoy a good book!
Sky Diving into Danger
A fine debut novel with an unusual plot line. Emily Locke is recovering from the loss of her husband and infant daughter. It is clear from the get-go there is something askew in that whole incident. Now four years later, the detective who was disgraced and dismissed from the local police department as fall-out from that calamity, is back in Emily's life. He wants her help on a case he's working on. A leap of faith is required of readers here. Is she the only person in the country the detective can count on to infiltrate a questionable sky-diving club located over a thousand miles away?
And why is Emily so available? After all she has a full-time job and is still pretty fragile from the loss of her daughter and husband.
