In Thursday night's Orange Bowl, Penn State and Notre Dame meet for the first time since a 2006-07 home and home. The teams have taken different paths to arrive to this point, with Penn State dispatching SMU and Boise State following a Big Ten Title Game loss to Oregon, while the Irish are winners of 12 straight with playoff wins against Indiana and Georgia. Can James Franklin etch a massive, signature win for his program? Or will Marcus Freeman fulfill the "third year head coach at ND" prophecy by bringing his team to a National Title Game?

In Friday's Cotton Bowl, it's a pseudo-home-game for Texas against Ohio State in what is expected to be a snowy Dallas, and is a prelude to a 2025 non-conference matchup. Can former Ohio State QB Quinn Ewers get Texas over the hump after falling short in the semifinals a year ago, or will the Ohio State playoff machine keep churning toward Atlanta?
