In a world where anything is better than nothing, Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana should be applauded for providing a 25% rebate for solar roof panels. But as an incentive for families to really invest in solar panels and therefore give some relief to the country’s ageing electricity grid, the rebate is not bold enough. At the same time, the minister has been praised for committing to provide Eskom with debt relief amounting to R254-billion.
