Good morning and welcome to Wake Up, where we wake up. Pastor Scot and Pastor Holly are diving into a powerful verse that can literally stabilize your soul when life feels shaky.
Today they are in Hebrews 6:19
We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.
What is your anchor in life
Is it the news, opinions, emotions, circumstances
Or is it the unshakeable promises of God
In this episode they talk about
Hope as an anchor for your soul
How hope in God’s promises keeps you from drifting into fear, despair, and discouragement
Hope rooted in God’s promises
God cannot lie, so when He promises healing, comfort, restoration, and goodness, you can anchor your heart to that
Boat and anchor picture
Without an anchor, the boat drifts to places it should not go. Without hope in His Word, our emotions do the same
Getting a bad report and standing on the Word
They share about a difficult doctor report during pregnancy and how they chose to stand on God’s promises as their anchor
Going behind the veil
Hope is tied to access to God’s presence. Because of Jesus, you can enter the “throne room” and have real relationship and conversation with your Father
What the throne room looks like to you
For some it looks like a literal throne room. For others a couch, a close hug, or sitting at Jesus’ feet. God meets you personally and intimately
Finding peace even when it is your own fault
Even when you are walking through consequences of your own choices, you can still drop the anchor of hope and believe God is a redeemer and restorer
How to “drop the anchor” again
Coming back to God’s goodness, thanking Him that He restores time, redeems mistakes, and walks you through the hard places
This is for you if
You are walking through a hard season and feel pulled in every emotional direction
You received a bad report and are fighting fear
You feel like your situation is your fault and you are wondering if God will still help you
You want a practical way to picture being in God’s presence and resting there
💡 Key Scripture
Hebrews 6:19
We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.
🙏 Prayer
Lord, thank You that Your promises are our anchor. Help us to drop that anchor in every storm and in every season, even when we are walking through consequences of our own choices. Thank You that You are a redeeming God, a restoring God, and that we can come boldly into Your presence because of Jesus. Let hope rise again in every heart that is watching today. In Jesus’ name, amen.
