We hope everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving celebrations because we’re going to tug on your heartstrings a bit with episode five of Find That Film. Since we are still in Time Travel Month, this film journeys from 1980 to 1912 and back again. Richard Matheson‘s Somewhere In Time was the first movie after Superman to star Christopher Reeve–it was an excellent choice for a follow up.

Jane Seymour stars as up and coming actress Elise McKenna. She, her manager Mr. Robinson (Christopher Plummer) and her company are performing at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island, Michigan in 1912. Reeve’s modern playwright Richard Collier falls in love with our leading lady’s memory when he visits Mackinac to unwind. Once he realizes he met the former star while he was in college he tries to learn the secret of time travel so he can be with her in her prime.

Jeannot Szwarc directs this masterpiece based upon Matheson’s book and screenplay. John Barry provides a moving and noteworthy score. It costars notables Teresa Wright and Bill Erwin.

Sit back and learn about what I refer to as THE male chick flick. It’s hard not to share every emotion Richard Collier experiences. Christopher Reeve fully delivers.
