The Empowered Creatives

Find the Thread of Your Story (feat. Hardie Cobbs)

Listen Later

Most of our career paths are not linear but rather feature a ton of twists, turns, and unexpected side treks. It can leave many of us feeling a little lost in our own story and not sure how to make sense of our past to carve out the future we desire.

Hardie Cobbs went through this journey herself a few years back when a breast cancer diagnosis sparked a pivot in her own career from artist to personal stylist. As the founder of A Year In Style she helps women embrace midlife with confidence and I could not imagine a better fit for this show!

Join us as we discuss:

  • Staying open to your career journey guiding you in new directions
  • Rediscovering the thread that ties these twists and turns together
  • Trusting that your passions may show up in your career at a later date
  • Aging well as a creative
  • Translating your skillset from job to job
  • Honoring yourself and being intentional with your life

  • Your One Thing This Week

You get to write your own story. So you’re one thing this week is to find your thread. Spend 20 minutes jotting down all of the breadcrumbs of your life - from skills and strengths you have to career journeys you’ve followed to life experiences that have really made an imprint on you. After you do that, take a birds eye view of everything you’ve written down. Circle what breadcrumbs feel tied to where you are at today and where you would like to be going.

If you’re feeling extra ambitious, write a short bio about yourself that’s filled with these breadcrumbs. You can even record it if writing is not your thing.
