Find Your Flock, E13: Ocean & Coastal-Focused Engineering Paths w/ Emma McCann

Listen Later

Dr. Sandra Clavijo talks with Emma McCann, a Stevens alum and AMP student in ocean engineering whose interests grew from environmental engineering into research on coastlines, ocean systems, and real-world fieldwork.

Emma shares how Jersey Shore experiences (including Hurricane Sandy) shaped her perspective, how reaching out to Prof. John Miller early on led to hands-on research with drones and shoreline data, and how that opened doors to internships with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers through the SMART Scholarship program. She also offers thoughtful advice to first-year students about exploration, mentorship, curiosity and finding the work that genuinely excites them.
