Help me Father to find my joy. God replied, The power to choose joy is and has always been yours. Remembering Ezra 3:12-13.
12 But many of the priests and Levites and heads of fathers’ households, the old men who had seen the first house (temple), wept with a loud voice when the foundation of this house was laid before their eyes, while many shouted aloud for joy,
13 so that the people could not distinguish the sound of the shout of joy from the sound of the weeping of the people, for the people shouted with a loud shout, and the sound was heard far away.
Tears and shouts of joy. Amen
Not quite…
Some were shouts of Joy, however the old men… wept, not for joy, but because they remember Solomon’s temple, which was larger grand. They saw the second temple as smaller and inferior.
So, it was a very mixed audience. They were perhaps seeing it as something lost instead of something regained.
One group - looked back with regret
The other group - looked forward to good things to come
The choice to choose Joy is mine.
