It's a staple throughout the OT narrative, from Genesis to Jesus, Abraham and his descendants sacrificed. In times of peace and times of war, millions of animals over the course of thousands of years were sacrificed to Yahweh. What can we make of this? Is God an advocate for animal cruelty, or is there something else at work here?
