In this episode I discuss Christine de Pizan's life and the legacy she left behind. Christine was the first known paid woman writer of the high middle ages. Italian by birth but raised in the French court, Christine had access to Greek Classics and texts from famous Philosophers. Christine wrote about heroines and expressed the importance of gender equality. She was an advocate for the education of women and challenged misogynistic views of women in medieval literature. Because of this, Christine would be regarded as one of the earliest feminist icons. This episode also includes passages from her books.

This is part two of a two part episode on Post Arthurian Tale: The Story of Silence. This story was unknown to the world for nearly 700 years till its discovery in 1911. It was found in a box in a manor house in England. This episode includes a reading of the 13th century story as well as an analysis of themes and characters. I also discuss details about the history of the text and who I believe the mysterious author was in real life.

This episode is a retelling and analysis of the post Arthurian tale, Silence. The story dates back to the mid 13th century but was not discovered till the early 20th century. The main character is disguised and raised as a boy so they will be able to inherit land when they are of age. Silence goes back and forth between using female and male pronouns.
