DEVOTIONAL: LOVE, LIGHT & LIFE MONDAY 19TH FEBRUARY. PARENTAL TRAITS

So Isaac dwelt in Gerar. And the men of the place asked about his wife. And he

said, "She is my sister"; for he was afraid

to say, "She is my wife," because he

thought, "lest the men of the place kil me

for Rebekah, because she is beautiful to behold."

Genesis 26:6-7 NKJV

From our theme verse, notice how Isaac does exactly the same thing Abraham his

father was known to do. Denying Sarah

was his wife for fear that they might kill him for her since she was beautiful to

behold. Isaac his son did exactly the same thing.

You see, there are certain things you do, which you've picked up as traits from your parents or from those who have brought you up. That's why many people have

similar life outcomes as their mum or dad,

because somehow, even subconsciously, they've copied the same character traits

from them.

Many things that happen to you which also happened to your parents are not a

generational curse. They aren't things from

which you need a special deliverance

service from. But here's the truth, fi you

handle life the same way they handled life, you'd end up with very similar results as

they did.

This is why you must pay attention to what traits you've picked up from your parents

or guardians. Are they positive? Don't say you were born like that, no! Remember

MONDAY 12TH FEBRUARY, 2024 DON'T GIVE THEM A CHANCE

in all things showing yourself to be a pattern of good works.... that one who is an opponent may be ashamed, having nothing evil to say of you.

Titus 2:7-8 NKJV

You know the moment you become public about your Christian faith, there are those who will dedicate themselves to speaking against you or searching out mistakes concerning you in a hope to discredit the

faith which you profess.

They do this because they are moved by

satan, and many times they don't even know it. The Bible therefore admonishes us to live in good conduct, such that those who seek to be opponents of the gospel by slandering us, will end up ashamed having nothing tangible to hold unto.

Of course because they are moved by the devil, even when they find nothing tangible against you, they begin to lie and twist stories. But it's better for their efforts to

just be lies, then for them to have actual things to hold unto.

Therefore don't be afraid of affirming your faith in Christ Jesus, in all things showing yourself to be a pattern of good works; in doctrine showing integrity, reverence, incorruptibility, sound speech that cannot be condemned, that one who is an opponent may be ashamed, having nothing evil to say of you.

THE CHARGE; PREACH THE WORD!

Preach the word! Be ready in season and

out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching.

Il Timothy 4:2 NKJV

The charge given in our theme verse, is not only to ministers on the pulpit, but is to

everyone, born again, who will stand as a Christian in whatever sphere of life they're

called to.

There are many opportunities you will have to share the gospel to those

in your space. What happens if you refuse to? We might loose that soul.

Don't forget that the gospel is God's power to save souls, irrespective of the background or social status of the person. It all boils down to the gospel. This is why they all need to hear it.

And some might never be in a church, so God sent you into their world!

Decide to always be ready. Train yourself to preach in a way that will convince

people to believe in the same Jesus Christ whom you believe.

The one who died for their sins and rose for their justification. Don't let them miss the opportunity.

Encourage those who are weak in faith,

Rebuke those who come up as enemies of

the gospel, preaching perversions and patiently teach those who don't know the

truth. This is an assignment for everyone who is born again.

Remember that the great commission of our Lord is for us all. We must seize every opportunity and preach to the lost that we might save them.
