Purpose. It is defined as have as one's intention or objective. We all have a purpose or different purposes in life. We may be aware of this or simply not aware of it on the surface.

There are times in life when our purpose may be altered or changed. We may even need to adjust our purpose when things come up in life. There are also things that happen in life that make us blind to what our purpose is. We may be overwhelmed with things that cause stress. Or we engage in actions that take over our lives. One of these is the use of alcohol or drugs to the point of becoming addicted. It may have been a trigger or series of triggers that have caused this to happen. It may be a way to cope with something like a mental illness where this takes place. The addiction can steer us from our purpose to the point where cravings become what the individual needs. But this does not mean the individual cannot change or re-define their purpose. When in recovery or coping with addiction on daily basis a purpose in career can be defined.
