It makes me a better athlete when I’m simply focused on getting outside and moving.” Have you ever just woke up, looked outside, and said, “I’m going to run 200 miles today.”? No? Maybe? Well, if you did, I sure hope you were prepared. Now, on a regular training run, most endurance athletes aren’t typically running 200 miles, however, they might have this particular mindset. I don’t look at not finishing something as a failure, I look at it as a stepping stone.” Endurance athlete, Avery Collins, sees himself as a mountain junkie. He is a young guy that enjoys everything the mountains and nature has to offer. On a normal day, you might find him hitting the slopes, biking through the trails, or running up the mountain. Avery simply loves movement. Within in that movement, Avery catches his rise in the ultra running community as the top 10 ultramarathon runner of the year in 2017. We caught up with him after his first place finish at the HURT 100 in January 2018. If you don’t believe in yourself, it’s not going to happen.”
Having moved to Colorado with a dream and $400, Avery worked his way to three jobs and a constant connection with the mountains. He is now taking leave from his job to pursue running and exploration of the country with his girlfriend, Sabrina. The two are embarking on their own run coaching business, Power Couple Coaching, and look forward to the freedom of the road.
