It was incredible to connect with the CEO and Co-Founder of
ersity, Nina Baliga. A female founded, woman of color startup focused on connecting a community of diverse tech talent with forward-thinking companies. Nina is building a "Glassdoor for diversity," where diverse coders, engineers, and developers can share their experiences about the diversity and inclusion practices and environment of various companies.Watch this episode, if you want to deepen your understanding around self-awareness, identity, and being your authentic self. Nina talks about her rich experiences and why she’s focused and passionate about advocating for people who are under-represented in the technology field.
Nina identified a pain point that originated from her combined personal and professional experiences. Her company strives to create a community that helps companies find great talent outside of their traditional networks, and for diverse talent to find great companies to work for by building a platform that is conscious about the challenges that both companies and diverse talent face in the workplace.
Nina has lived all across the United States. Recently, she moved from D.C. to Colorado to be surrounded by nature and enjoy the mountains. Find solace. During this time, she also pivoted from the nonprofit space and into U/X design. She learned quick, worked smart and focused on building a strong freelancing business doing user experience design, digital strategy, and business development.
Soon enough, Nina was searching for a community in her new found home, so she started to attend tech-related events and took the time to learn and expand her relationships. What she noticed in these particular spaces is that she would often be the only woman and person of color in attendance. Nina wants to see more women and people of color in leadership positions across the country. She hopes to build a foundation for a stronger and more diverse tech community.

NINA’S WHY
My why comes down to making as much of an impact on people’s lives as possible for the better. I want to be a part of the changes that improve the lives of people who are marginalized and oppressed and don’t have a voice. That is always going to be the why that drives me for everything that I do, but how it manifests is always going to be growing and changing.
