Research after my potential gaffe (this depends on your view): the word “tribe” comes from the Latin word “tribus.” Its history is long from Ancient Rome, biblical texts, and in more recent times, to particular groups of people in Africa and to Native Americans. While in modern times it is sometimes used to describe a close group of friends or teams in the corporate world. After reading up on this it’s become more clear it is considered a word that some consider racially insensitive. And so I’ve been schooled. Thanks, internet. Intention is important and so is awareness.
