Jenn Hazel Richards is currently in her last year of grad school to become a marriage and family therapist. She is a divorcee and survivor of domestic abuse. She has 6 children -- 4 living and twin daughters that died at birth. Jenn also has pet chickens and a passion for gardening and being active outdoors. She is living her most authentic life and constantly using her voice to speak her truth. 

In this episode, Jenn shares her story and process leaving her abusive marriage and finding her voice, freedom, and self post-relationship. She explains the fears and belief systems that kept her stuck in that abusive marriage along with sharing the moments of awakening that pushed her to finally leave. 

We discuss the following aspects of her story:

  • Her story of physical and emotional abuse inflicted by her then husband
  • Her awakening and deciding to leave her abusive marriage
  • Why she decided to open up on social media about the abuse she's faced
  • Experiencing backlash and having others try to silence her
  • Taking her power back and finding her voice
  • Signs of a healthy relationship vs. unhealthy or abusive relationship
  • Challenging and unlearning old belief systems and thought patterns
  • How fear kept her stuck
  • Post relationship -- navigating healing, triggers, and dating
