She wrote “Parable of the Brown Girl: The Sacred Lives of Girls of Color.” Today’s conversation centers around: being approached to write a book, writing from experience, creating a book proposal, having a book proposal rejected for having too niche of a subject, holding firm to the original proposal, and getting picked up by another publisher. Khristi shares on black girls (and women) finding their voices and learning how to use them to speak confidently in situations where there are no other people of color (and when there are).
