In this episode of Reading the Bible Daily with Dave, we turn to 2 Kings 10. Yesterday in chapter 9, Jehu was anointed king of Israel and executed God's judgment on Joram, Ahaziah, and Jezebel—fulfilling Elijah's prophecy. Today, in chapter 10, Jehu continues that mission. With ruthless zeal, he wipes out Ahab's line, eradicates Baal worship, and consolidates his rule. Yet the chapter also warns us that partial obedience is still disobedience. Jehu destroyed Baal worship but clung to the golden calves—leaving Israel in idolatry. 🔑 Themes • God's Justice: The word of the Lord is fulfilled exactly. • Zeal and Compromise: Jehu's passion is undercut by partial obedience. • False Worship: Idolatry cannot be half-destroyed—it must be rooted out. • Christ-Centered Application: Jesus is the true and faithful King who obeys perfectly. 🙏 May this passage remind us that wholehearted devotion is what God desires from His people.
