A high-rise fire in Toronto has been burning since November 27th, and firefighters still can’t put it out. The fire is trapped in a two-inch void between two separate buildings — a 12-story and a 20-story tower — packed with combustible fiberboard that’s been smoldering for nearly two weeks.
Hundreds of residents have been displaced, up to 50 firefighters are on scene daily, and the fire keeps spreading vertically where crews can’t reach it. Sprinklers can’t activate, smoke alarms can’t detect it, and thermal cameras can't see through the massive concrete walls.
