Today, we’re looking at the difference between what we call a company fire and a command fire. A company fire is one that a single crew can control through solid fundamentals, stretching the right line, getting water on the seat of the fire, searching, and coordinating basic truck work under the officer’s direct supervision. A command fire, however, expands beyond what one company can manage and requires someone to step back, establish command, coordinate multiple companies, and manage the bigger picture.
