Helga Zepp LaRouche has declared 2018 the year to end the Reign of Geopolitics, citing this mode of thought as responsible for two wars in the last 100 years. If this primitive mode of thinking is not replaced by completely different axioms, we stand on the edge of a third world war, a war which could eliminate the human race.

The national security doctrine announced by President Trump last week completely reflects this doctrine, despite the President's efforts to distance himself personally from it. It is the British diseased thought which infects all of official Washington and Wall Street. There is no possibility of real collaboration with Russia and China, they tell us. Their emergence as economic powers means, unless we challenge them existentially, our demise. In line with this, huge amounts of public funds are committed to modernizing nuclear weapons and building huge armed forces with frontier technologies while the population starves.

Friedrich Schiller long ago declared the difference between the two paradigms operating in the world today in his essay, Lycurgus and Solon. Those surrounding the President have him profiled as a would be Spartan.
