Firestone Union Jack IPA and Coronado Peach Cruiser IPA tastings

Listen Later

Forgive any slurring on this episode. I am not drunk, I just woke
up from a nap. Yes, I had a couple beers before my nap, but my brain is
waking up.

Anyways, I sip on the Union Jack IPA from Firestone
Walker Brewing Company. They are from Paso Robles, CA and have sold to
Duvel in 2015. They have an excellent barrel aging program and I
thoroughly enjoy this IPA on the show.

It is a 7% abv beer, but doesn’t taste like booze. It’s hoppy and makes me happy.

This
brewery is still respectable to me, mostly because they are still
barrel aging. I love when brewers do stuff like “barrel aging” because
there are so many variables that make a brewery vulnerable, but that
vulnerability can pay off huge sums (1. by charging more and 2. because
of the awesome products the efforts can yield).

I also drink
Coronado Brewing’s Peach Cruiser IPA. It is an IPA made with peach
puree. It is 6.8% abv. This brewery is from the San Diego region and
they came out around 1996.

That is about all I got from their
story (breweries please take note: spend more time on writing your story
out on your website).

This beer is a lovely IPA with subtle
hints of fruit and tropical explosions. The peach is there, but it
complements the beer in a good way.

That is about it for this show, besides me talking about my band, recent batch of beer and other shenanigans.
