On the heels of a video call with the Commandant and Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps as we rapidly approach our 250th birthday, I immediately thought about recording something to let my daughters and all of you see how I express my heart through the self-discipline I choose when none of you are routinely awake.

The beauty of life is met with the certainty of death. In this late night reflection, I speak as a Marine, a coach, and a dad, sharing the heart behind my habits and the standard that shapes my days. Because if my next breath were my last, I’d want my story to speak for itself.
