In this special Mother’s Day episode, I am joined by an actual mother, Danielle Eldridge. Danielle is a first time mom to her two and half year old daughter, Sophia, who, by the way, makes several appearances throughout the episode (It’s very cute). I talk to Danielle about motherhood and what it’s like to have taken a traditional path into adulthood--you know: married, with kids, paying a mortgage, balancing careers, white picket fence, you get it.
I ask her what motherhood looks and feels like on a day to day basis--the sacrifice and patience it takes and the maturity one must have and cultivate to raise a human. Danielle shares with me her backstory, her rocky relationship with her own mother and how that’s informed the kind of mother Danielle wanted to be. She tells me of her anxieties and fears while she was pregnant, and some the complications she had after giving birth. She illustrates to me how she balances being a wife, a mom, all while working to keep the lights on.
She also shares the excitement, wonder, and magic of being a mother; how exhilarating it is to watch your little person discover the world and everything in it. If you're a parent or an expecting parent, this episode is for you.
