In today's First Time Story I was joined by Deborah Olatunji a writer, award-winning poet, activist, public speaker, and author of Unleashing Your Innovative Genius: High School Redesigned. Did I mention Deborah is a seventeen-year-old high school senior from Delaware? An amazing young woman intensely passionate about education. She is here today to share the story of her first time performing spoken word poetry. Next, we played the First Time Lightning Round and Deborah shared the story of taking part in donating over 1,000 books. I had quite a few firsts in this interview. Deborah was the first teenager I've interviewed, first time I had someone read their poetry, and first time I exploded into tears during an interview... Deborah is such an impressive person!! You don't want to miss out learning about her!
