First, Women in Elected Office; Then, Pennsylvania Congressional Race

On today’s two-part show we continue our midterm themed programing.
First, we talk with Lindsey Harness about the results of a non-partisan survey about women in elected office. The Alverno Report: Wisconsin Women in Public Life—Elected Officials identifies diverse and successful pathways to office and also uncovers the many challenges women face. The survey finds that for statewide elective executives, women hold 31% of the positions Women hold 31.1% of the 7,383 seats in state legislatures.
Lindsey Harness is the director of the Alverno College Research Center for Women and Girls (RCWG) and an associate professor of Communication and Technology at Alverno College. She  joins the program to talk about the specific challenges women face by trying to get their voice heard in office.
Then, following the Pennsylvania U.S. Congressional debate last night, J.D. Prose joins us to to talk about the race, candidates, and the debate.
J.D. Prose is the state political reporter for PennLive.com. Previously, he worked for the USA TODAY Network’s Pennsylvania state bureau and the Beaver County Times in western Pennsylvania. J.D. has also covered politics and county government for the former Gazette Newspapers in suburban Maryland.
