In Luke 5:1-11, Jesus is preaching by the Sea of Galilee when he sees Simon (Peter) and his partners, James and John, cleaning their fishing nets. After they had caught nothing all night, Jesus tells them to go back out and let down their nets for a catch. Despite their initial doubt, they obey and catch a huge number of fish, so much that their nets begin to break. Overwhelmed by the miracle, Simon Peter falls at Jesus’ feet, acknowledging his sinfulness. Jesus tells him not to be afraid and invites him to follow Him, promising that he will now "fish for people."
