In this episode of Kids Party Characters, Cheryl, dressed as Rapunzel, introduces one of her mentors: Mel Martin. The two flash back to a seminar they attended where they couldn't take themselves seriously and acted like children the entire time they were there.
Cheryl asks Mel where he gets all of his energy, and Mel laughs that at 53 years old, he's in awe of what he can do, and everything in his life that he gets to do. He decided who he wanted to be, and what action steps he wanted to take, as well as what he wanted to learn. A big part of it was who he chose to surround himself with.
Mel describes the career he's been blessed with, and the types of people he's had the opportunity to work with during his last 34 years. He enjoys giving people a glimpse at what their journey could be from concept, to planning, obstacles, accomplishments, and help them bring it to fruition. He also shares an amazing compliment he received from a fellow coach that struck a chord in him.
The two laugh about Mel dropping the ball during one of Cheryl's workouts when they were spending time at the gym together in New York, and she thanks him for being such an intricate part of her growth into a teaching role instead of just doing the business, she's not helping others build their own. Mel is more than happy to accept her thanks, and returns the favor by explaining that Cheryl has been a solid person in his corner. He then describes the growth required to become a success in coaching, and how it takes expansion beyond the normal scope of vision in order to create something global.
