Every other part we have been looking at provides a protection for the body as a whole or particular parts of the body. But this is not true of the sword of the Spirit. It is defensive in the sense that it keeps back the enemy as a whole rather than some particular aspect of his attack. . The sword serves a dual purpose, defensive and offensive. It is something whereby we can not only repel the enemy but also attack him.
