Fitz’s Magic & Scheffler’s Surge - April 19th, 2026

Listen Later

On April 19th, 2026, Moving Day at the RBC Heritage delivered fireworks as Matt Fitzpatrick built a three-shot lead over a relentless Scottie Scheffler, setting up a blockbuster Sunday showdown at Harbour Town.

RBC HERITAGE: FITZPATRICK VS. SCHEFFLER
  • Matt Fitzpatrick maintained his grip on Harbour Town with a rollercoaster 68, highlighted by driving the 9th green (183mph ball speed), but he'll face Scottie Scheffler, who fired a surging 64 to earn a final-pairing spot.
  • After Fitz's back-to-back cross-handed hole-outs ("Has he done it again Frank? Oh yes he has"), Colt Knost warned he "has got to play aggressive" against Scheffler's 126mph 9-iron darts.
  • Fitzpatrick is expecting a baby in three months and taking fatherhood advice from Ryan Fox, while Scheffler is celebrating his inclusion on the prestigious TIME 100 list.

HARBOUR TOWN HIGHLIGHTS: HARMAN GOES LOW & SURVIVAL GOLF
  • A 13-under logjam features Brian Harman's career-best 63 after a putting tweak, Sepp Straka's elite iron play, and Si Woo Kim, who shifted his psychology to hunting top-10s after securing his Tour card early.
  • Harman holed out on 17 to cap his day, while Harris English hit a blind high hook on 15 that the broadcast rightfully dubbed a "Glorious shot!"
  • Harman is keeping it incredibly relaxed this week by crashing at Russell Henley's beach house, while Jason Day gave everyone a scare with a backward fall into a sod-walled bunker that tested his ailing back.

PGA TOUR SHAKEUP: CUTS RETURN TO SIGNATURE EVENTS
  • Major structural changes are coming by 2027, as the PGA Tour will bring back the halfway cut and 120-man fields to Signature Events, ending the awkwardness of struggling stars playing meaningless weekend golf.
  • The change was directly triggered by the optics of big names like Justin Thomas and Tony Finau grinding through empty, no-cut Saturday rounds at the bottom of the leaderboard.
  • On the broadcast side, Johnson Wagner physically recreated Scheffler's round one tree-trouble shot, admitting his fear: "My hands are not feeling great. I am a little bit terrified."
