Shy Fox here with a special report: the official soundtrack to our podcast now has 5 extra tracks AND is available on all major streaming platforms including the reprehensible Spotify! We hope you decide to check it out, especially on Bandcamp where they treat creators right. As a special treat, the album's composer (AKA our beloved super-producer) has recorded this special message all about his process creating it.
One of the most fascinating things about this past year of FYHOD has been working with Daniel Sanford. When I first approached him last year for collaboration, I did not know him very well, and we had only interacted fleetingly as decades-long fans of Jonathan Off Road Rules. I was a huge fan of his work with The Spin-Off Doctors Spin-Off Podcast and Talking To Women About Video Games, and frankly I was quite envious of how close he had managed to get with Jonathan. Plus, I just thought he seemed like a really funny, interesting guy.
So when I caught the podcasting bug again last year, I introduced myself to him properly an improv comedy podcast to him, much in the vein of our beloved Boston's Favorite Son. The files I sent him for reference of my old show called SMUNCH failed to ignite his imagination, so he declined at the time. But I didn't give up! Twin Peaks had taken over my mind by the end of 2024, and the doppelganger in my body had EXTREME confidence. Thus, I once again approached him about producing a new show all about David Lynch.
He was more intrigued this time, with one caveat: he barely knew anything about David Lynch, and quite disliked what he DID know of his work. But I assured him that I had a bizarre enough plan to make it worth his while. In the months since, I have watched an entirely new creative persona blossom within my fellow Daniel: the mood-music superstar Danielo Sanfordalamenti!
Named after a bizarre portmanteau of his actual name and that of famed Twin Peaks composer Angelo Badalamenti, this newly-Severed Sanford took his assignment seriously. He watched all of Twin Peaks (despite despising about 70% of it), all the while internalizing the emotions of its music.
Long story short, his resultant work--which recreates the spirit and power of Twin Peaks while remaining entirely original--is something that makes me tremendously proud to be associated with. The entire FYHOD project simply would not be the same without it. And honestly, my life today would not be nearly as rich had I not come to know Daniel as a collaborator, and as a friend.
