Hello dear friends, I hope you are all doing well. I've been wanting to share something with you for days, but the power rationing in Venezuela is worse than in recent years. Now they cut off the electricity for up to six hours at a time, and when I get home from work, I always find the power is out. So, I wanted to take this opportunity to share a drawing I made of the moon. I've been following NASA's Artemis II lunar mission closely, a mission that has taken humans back to the moon after more than 50 years. Now we've been able to see clearer photos of the far side of the moon, as well as a better view of our planet. I made this drawing based on the images that show the moon's colors, and it's simply beautiful. I hope you like it.

>Hola queridos amigos, espero que se encuentren muy bien, tenía días queriendo compartir con ustedes pero el racionamiento de luz en Venezuela está peor que en los últimos años, ahora quitan la luz hasta por 6 horas y cuando llego a mi casa luego de haber trabajado siempre encuentro que la luz ya no está. Por eso, en esta oportunidad quiero aprovechar este breve momento para compartir con ustedes un dibujo que hice de la luna, he estado muy pendiente de la misión lunar Artemis II de la NASA, una misión que ha llevado al hombre a la luna luego de más de 50 años, ahora hemos podido apreciar fotos más nítidas del lado oculto de la luna así como una mejor vista de nuestro planeta. He realizado este dibujo basándome en las imágenes que muestran los colores se la luna y es sencillamente hermoso, espero que les guste.

This drawing was truly special. If there was one where black would make a good background, it would be for the moon. So I drew a circle and started painting from one of its edges. As you can see, I painted irregularly to accurately depict the moon's cratered surface. Right from the start, you can see it as if the moon were rising; it was amazing while I was drawing it.

>Este dibujo si que fue especial, si había uno donde el color negro sería un buen fondo, sería para dibujar la luna. Así que hago un círculo y comienzo a pintar desde uno de sus bordes, como pueden observar, voy pintando de manera irregular para poder hacer bien la superficie llena de cráteres que posee la luna. Aquí solamente al comenzar se puede ver como si la luna estuviera saliendo, fue algo asombroso mientras lo dibujaba.

Next, I paint the lower part, specifically where the large crater is located. It's so big that the distance it covers upon impact is immense. At this point, if I left the drawing here, it would look great, thanks to the effect the black cardstock helps to create with the white charcoal pencil.

>Seguidamente voy pintando por la parte inferior, específicamente donde está ubicado el gran crater, es tan grande que las distancia que cubre en su impacto son inmensas. Hasta este punto, si dejara el dibujo aquí se vería genial, por el efecto que la cartulina de color negro ayuda a lograr con el lápiz de carboncillo blanco.

Then I work my way up the moon until I can paint most of the upper side; here you could say the moon is almost full. You can see that depending on the pressure I apply with the paint on the paper, the effect is different. That's how I do it, leaving space so the moon's craters are visible.

>Después voy subiendo por la luna hasta poder pintar la mayor parte del lado superior, aquí se podría decir que la luna está casi llena. Pueden observar que dependiendo de la presión que haga con el color sobre la hoja el efecto es diferente, así es como voy haciendo y dejando el espacio para que se vean los cráteres de la luna.

Now, in the next step, I begin adding contrast to the colors. New NASA photos have revealed that the lunar surface contains certain minerals that give it the beautiful tones seen in the photographs. So, following that color scheme, I first apply turquoise blue to certain areas of the drawing.

>Ahora en el siguiente paso comienzo agregar contraste en los colores, en las nuevas fotos de la NASA se ha determinado que a través de los colores visibles la superficie lunar tiene ciertos minerales que le dan esos tonos tan hermosos que se pueden apreciar en las fotografías. Así que siguiendo esa tonalidad voy aplicando en primer lugar el color azul turquesa en ciertas regiones del dibujo.

After adding the blue tones, I begin adding shades of orange, brown, and ochre. With this combination, I try to get closer to the tone seen in the Lanasa photographs. Finally, I retouch all the white areas, and that's the finished product.

>Después de agregar los tonos azules comienzo a agregar tonos de color naranja, café y ocre, con esta combinanción trato de acercarme un poco a la tonalidad que puede apreciarse en las fotografías de lanasa. Por último vuelvo a retocar todas las partes que van de blanco y así ha quedado finalizado.

What did you think of the ending? It's amazing what science has achieved, especially when used for good, and it's ironic that while one part of humanity progresses, the vast majority wastes time on wars and death. This drawing made me reflect on all the things that human beings can achieve. Someone imagined the journey to the moon, and now it's a reality again. I hope someone imagines true peace so that we can all build it together. For now, I'll say goodbye, and until next time.

>¿Qué les ha parecido el final? es maravilloso lo que la ciencia ha logrado, especialmente cuando se usa para el bien, y es irónico que mientras una parte de la humanidad avanza, otra grna mayoría de ella pierde el tiempo en guerras y muerte. Este dibujo me ha hecho reflexionar sobre todas aquellas cosas que los seres humanos podemos lograr, alguien imaginó el viaje a la luna y ahora vuelve a ser una realidad. Hello dear friends, I hope you are all doing well. The Gospels tell the story of Jesus, who was crucified and buried on Friday, spent all of Saturday in the tomb, and then rose again. This week, which I've used for reflection, I've also created a portrait of Jesus that commemorates his most difficult moment. In the midst of so much suffering, he raised his eyes to heaven and cried out in despair, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" We have all experienced similar situations at some point, where we've felt that all is lost and there's no turning back. However, there is always something more ahead, a reward for those who persevere to the end. This is how I interpret the figure of Jesus in his final moments, which is why I created this portrait where he is wearing the crown of thorns, a symbol of shame and pain. I hope you like the result.

>Hola queridos amigos, espero que se encuentren muy bien, cuenta la historia de Jesús en los evangelios que el día viernes fue crucificado y enterrado, pasó todo el día sábado en el sepulcro y luego volvió a la vida. En esta semana que he aprovechado para reflexionar, he realizado también un dibujo retrato de Jesús que recuerda su momento más difícil, en medio de tanto sufrimiento elevó su mirada al cielo y clamó con desesperación: "Dios mío Dios mío ¿Por qué me has abandonado?". Alguna vez todos hemos pasado por una situación similar, donde hemos sentido que todo está perdido y no hay vuelta atrás, sin embargo siempre queda algo más adelante, la recompensa para el que persevera hasta el final. Así interpreto yo la figura de Jesús en sus últimos momentos, es por eso que he realizado este retrato donde sale luciendo la corona de espinas, símbolo de afrenta y dolor. I bought a black cardstock drawing pad, and I was also able to buy a white charcoal pencil. This time I bought it from a more affordable brand, and I've found it to be very good quality. So I started my drawing by recreating the face using only guide lines. I began the sketch from the nose as my starting point and from there I added the rest of the details until I had it complete.

>Compre un block para dibujar de cartulina negra, y también pude comprar un lápiz carboncillo de color blanco, esta vez lo compre de una marca más accesible y he comprobado que es de muy buena calidad. Así que comencé mi dibujo recreando el rostro solamente con líneas guías, así el boceto del rostro lo comencé desde la nariz como mi punto de partida y de ahí fui agregando el resto de detalles hasta tenerlo por completo.

After sketching the face, I begin to add volume. Here, I mix regular white wax crayon with charcoal, which is more intense. For the areas of skin that don't require much highlighting, I use the white wax crayon, and then for the more illuminated areas, I use charcoal. Alternating between the two colors, I begin to shape the skin of the face.

>Luego de hacer el boceto del rostro comienzo a darle volumen, aquí hago una mezcla entre el color blanco normal de cera y el carboncillo, el cual es más intenso. Para las partes de la piel que no requiera mucha iluminación utilizo el lápiz blanco de cera, luego para las partes más iluminadas utilizo el carboncillo, alternando entre un color y otro comienzo a darle forma a la piel del rostro.

Next, I started painting the top of the head. It's in this part that I began shaping the eyes, which express that look of profound despair for the dead woman. To give the background more darkness, I used black charcoal; for example, I made the shading around her most expressive eye deeper.

>Seguidament e voy pintante la parte superior de la cabeza, es en esta parte donde le voy dando forma a sus ojos los cuales expresan esa mirada de profunda desesperación por la muerta. Para darle mayó oscuridad al fondo lo que hice fue utilizar carboncillo de color negro, así por ejemplo el sombreado alrededor de su ojo más expresivo lo hice más profundo.

I continued the process of creating the volume of the skin on the face. As you can see, the face is already taking shape. For the areas of skin that disappear in the light, I used a white wax pencil. Then I drew Jesus's beard, trying to make it as realistic as possible, as well as adding some drops of sweat and blood.

>Continúo con el proceso de crear el volumen de la piel en el rostro, como pueden ver ya el rostro va tomando la forma, para la parte de la piel que va desapareciendo ante la luz utilizo el lápiz blanco de cera. Luego fui haciendo la barba de Jesús, traté de hacerla lo más realista posible, así como también algunas gotas de sudor y sangre.

Finally, I added the hair and the terrifying crown of thorns that was placed on his head to shame him. Little by little, I painted the drops covering his face, including the blood. To make the drops stand out more, I used acrylic paint, and that's how it was finished.

>Por último fui agregando el cabello y la aterradora corona de espina que fue puesta en su cabeza para avergonzarlo. Poco a poco hice las gotas que cubrian el rsotro ingluyendo la sangre. Para resaltar las gotas mejor, las hice con pintura acrílica y así quedó finalizado.

What did you think of the result? I know there's no exact record about Jesus; many say he was an invention of the church, others say his story was manipulated. Whether that's true or not, what is certain is that he changed lives with just one phrase: Love your neighbor as yourself. He took his ideas to their ultimate consequences, and I think we should reflect on the simplicity of his message. It costs nothing to be empathetic with those around us; our world would be a better place. For now, that's all, and I'll say goodbye until next time.

>¿Qué les ha parecido el resultado? sé que no existe registro exacto acerca de Jesus, muchos dicen que fue una invención de la iglesia, otros dicen que su historia fue manipulada, sea cierto o no lo que si es seguro es que ha cambiado vidas simplemente con una frase: Ama a tu prójimo como a ti mismo. Sus ideas lo llevaron hasta las última consecuencias y creo que hay que pensar en la sencillez de su mensaje, nada cuesta ser empáticos con quienes nos rodean, nuestro mundo sería mejor. Hello dear friends, I hope you are all doing well. Today, Sunday, marks the beginning of Holy Week in many countries around the world, commemorating the death of Jesus. For Venezuelans, it's a week of vacation. I've taken advantage of this time to return to painting some larger acrylic paintings, in a portrait style. Here, I used an MDF board which I painted white before sketching a female face to paint. I'll briefly show you the process I used.

>Hola queridos amigos, espero que todos se encuentren muy bien, hoy día domingo comienza en muchos países del mundo la Semana Santa, en conmemoración e la muerte de Jesús, para los venezolanos es una semana de vacaciones. Yo he aprovechado para volver a hacer pinturas acrílicas un poco más grandes, estilo retratos. Aquí he utilizado una madera MDF la cual pinté de blanco para luego hacer el boceto de un rostro femenino el cual pintar. Aquí les voy a presentar de forma breve el proceso de como lo hice.

Those who have followed my previous work know that I've been making miniature portraits for some time now. They're easier to create, although you need more patience when it comes to the details. So now, working on something a bit larger, I'll put my skills to the test again, this time with a portrait of a woman's face. After painting the MDF board white, I use a pencil to sketch the entire shape of the face, including her hair.

>Para quienes han seguido mis anteriores trabajos saben que tengo tiempo haciendo retratos en miniatura, los cuales son más fáciles de hacer aunque cuando se trata de detalles se debe tener más paciencia. Así que ahora haciendo algo un poco más grande pues, volveré a poner a prueba mis habilidades, esta vez con un retrato de un rostro femenino. Luego de pintar la madera MDF de color blanco, con un lápiz voy haciendo toda la forma del rostro, incluyendo su cabello.

I began painting the center of the face, using a mix of colors for each area, especially for darker areas and those where the light reflection was a bit stronger. In this portrait, the light comes from the left side, with a clear tendency towards shadow on the opposite side. The brush I used in this first step was a round brush.

>Comencé a pintar el centro del rostro, con una mezcla de colores para cada zona, especialmente para zonas oscuras y aquellas en donde el reflejo de la luz estuviera un poco más fuerte. En este retrato la luz viene del lado izquierdo, con una clara tendencia a la sombre del lado contrario. El pincel que utilizo en este primer paso es el pincel redondo.

Next, I worked on the eyes and their pronounced expression line, since the character is looking up and to the left. According to body language experts, this way of looking to the side means we are imagining something. Then I added the first base colors for the hair, something similar to the skin tone, from which I will continue adding more light and dark tones.

>Seguidamente fue haciendo también los ojos y su marcada línea de expresión, ya que se encuentra mirando hacia arriba y a la izquierda, segun los estudiosos del lenguaje corporal, esta manera de mirar hacia un lado significa que estamos imaginando algo. Así luego voy agregando las primeras bases para el cabello, algo parecido al tono piel, a partir del cual seguiré agregando más tonos claros y también oscuros.

As I mentioned before, I start adding more tones to the hair, to make it a sort of blonde shade, but one that's obviously influenced by the environment. Next, I add some of the clothing she's wearing: a gray vest over a black flannel shirt.

>Como había dicho anteriormente, comienzo a agregar más tonos para el cabello, para hacerlo de alguna manera un tono rubio pero que obviamente esté influenciado por el ambiente donde está. Seguidamente agrego parte de la ropa que tiene puesta un chaleco de color gris sobre una franela de color negro.

Then I add everything I think is necessary to the hair, like small highlights that appear above the face, as well as the darker areas, which helps to better appreciate the hair's volume. Another important detail is the background, where I add a nighttime cityscape with some trees at the top, and that's how it's finished.

>Luego voy haciendo todo lo que opino necesario en el cabello como pequeños destellos de loz, y que estos puedan verse encima del rostro, así también las partes más oscuras, con esto el volumen del cabello se puede apreciar mejor. Otro detalle importante es el fondo, donde agrego un paisaje de ciudad nocturna con algunos árboles en la parte superior, y así queda finalizado.

What did you think of the final result? I don't particularly enjoy doing realistic portraits, but I do like them to capture the essence of the person. I like to express my own style, and I believe that every painter has their own way of feeling comfortable with what they do. There are other techniques I'd like to explore, and I hope I can learn them, like painting with a palette knife, which I've found very ingenious for creating textures, and I know it would look fantastic on faces. >¿Qué les ha parecido el final? no me gusta mucho hacer retratos realistas, pero si que conserven la esencia de la persona, me gusta imprimir mi propio estilo y creo que cad apintor tiene su propia forma desentirse a gusto con lo que hace. Hay otras técnicas que me gustaría explorar, espero poder aprenderlas, como pintar con espátula, algo que he visto muy ingenioso para lograr texturas y se que con rostros quedaría genial. Because of their ease and accessibility, I now use pay stubs for drawing. You can't imagine the huge collection I have now. I've even given some to loved ones; it's a way for my art to spread when it's in other hands. The first step is to make a sketch with just a pencil, using one of his most iconic photos as a reference, where he appears thoughtful.

>Por su facilidad y accesibilidad, utilizo ahora las facturas de pago para dibujar, no se imaginan la gran colección que poseo ahora, a parte de ello he obsequiado algunas a mis seres queridos, es una forma de hacer que mi arte se vaya expandiendo cuando está en otras manos. El primer paso es realizado un boceto con solamente un lápiz, tomo como referencia una de sus fotos más icónicas, donde se le puede observar pensativo.

In the next step, once the sketch is complete, it's time to start using the pen. Here I'm using a very dark ink pen because I want the drawing to be well-defined from the start, not just going from the lightest areas and then darkening them. I'm playing it safe here. This means clearly establishing the boundaries of the face.

>En el siguiente paso, cuando ya ha quedado realizado el boceto, toca comenzar a utilizar el bolígrafo, aquí utilizo un bolígrafo de tinta muy oscura, y es que me interesa hacer el dibujo ya bien delimitado, no solamente ir desde lo más claro y luego ir oscureciendo, aquí voy por lo seguro. Esto significa establecer claramente los límites del rostro.

Next, I move on to the thoughtful gaze, which features deep, penetrating eyes. Here, I use a pen with slightly lighter ink, perfect for creating very soft shadows that contrast with the previously drawn outlines. I also add his nose and his enormous mustache, a symbol of this thinker, which he wore extensively until the very end.

>Luego voy avanzando por la mirada pensativa, la cual posee unos ojos de mirada profunda. Aquí utilizo un bolígrafo cuya tinta es algo más clara, y sirve para hacer sombras muy suaves, y que se pueden contrastar con los límites que fueron dibujados anteriormente. También voy agregando su nariz y su enorme bigote, símbolo de este pensador, el cual utilizó de forma abundante hasta el último de sus días.

"Without music, life would be a mistake," the German philosopher also said, and it's something I completely agree with. In fact, while I was making this drawing, I was listening to Richard Strauss and his classical rendition of "Thus Spoke Zarathustra." I, too, see music as part of the human experience; it's through music that we can travel to unexpected places in our imagination. Under those powerful notes, I put the finishing touches on this illustration.

>"Sin música la vida sería un error" dijo tambien el filósofo alemán, y es algo en lo que etsoy totalmente de acuerdo, de hecho, cuando hacía este dibujo, escuchaba Richard Strauss y su representación de clásica de "Así habló Zaratustra" yo también concibo la música como parte de la experiencia humana, es a través de ella que podemos ir a lugaros insosprechados de nuestra imaginación. Bajo esas notas de poder le daba los útlimos toques a esta ilustración hasta finalizarla.

Well, I should mention that there's also a movie about him, based on a non-autobiographical book called "When Nietzsche Wept." It touches on some themes from his philosophy through the book's interpretation. I liked it, so I recommend it. I might write a review of it sometime. Chuck Norris, a great legend of cinema and martial arts, has passed away. I grew up watching him on TV with my father as a child, along with all the action legends of the '80s, a time when cinema reached its peak. I followed his Instagram account and was amazed to see that he remained active, exercising and giving advice. He was always a role model for me. Since there are so few legends left who gave meaning and heroism to our lives, I've created this heartfelt tribute: a painting on a banknote of the great star of Walker, Texas Ranger. I hope that wherever he is, he's found Bruce Lee and they've finished their fight.

>Ha fallecido Chuck Norris, una gran leyenda del cine y las artes marciales, una estrella la cual crecí viéndola por TV con mi padre cuando era niño, al igual que todas las leyendas de acción de los 80, dond el cine alcanzó su prime de perfección. Yo seguía su cuenta de instagram y me sorprendía al ver que se mantenía activo haciendo ejercicios y dando consejos, para mi siempre fue un ejemplo a seguir. Como ya quedan pocas leyendas que dieron significado de heroísmo a nuestras vidas, he realizado este sentido homenaje, una pintura realizada en un billete del gran protagonista de Walker Ranger de Texas. Espero que donde esté haya encontrado a Bruce Lee y terminen su combate.

Where to begin? All you need is a banknote. As I've mentioned, I have many, and I enjoy creating new figures and personalizing them, even if they've lost their value. To do this, I simply apply a layer of paint over the original image to create a good background and make it easier to draw. After it's completely dry, I use a very light-tipped pencil to sketch the face little by little, section by section, making sure to capture each line of expression as accurately as possible.

>¿Por donde comenzar? solamente basta con tomar un billete, ya he relatado que tengo muchos, y de alguna forma me gusta hacer nuevas figuras y personalizar los billetes aunque hayan perdido su valor. Para hacerlo solo necesito aplicar una capa de pintura encima de la figura original, para convertirla en un buen fondo y que sea más fácil dibujar. Luego de que haya secado muy bien, con un lápiz de punta muy clara lo que hago es hacer el boceto del rostro poco a poco y parte por parte, asegurándome de hacer cada línea de expresión lo más fiel posible.

I continued drawing all the necessary lines with the pencil, for example, in the hair. As I drew, it needed a little more paint, so I added it. After the paint dried, I continued adding the lines. You can see that the face looks very well drawn in the sketch; from here on out, all that remains is to add the layers of paint.

Now it's time to use the acrylic paint. I'm using mostly white, which I'll then mix with a little brown, red, and yellow. Since it's a small amount of paint, the quantities should be minimal, so it's a bit more difficult to mix until you find the desired shade. My focus here is on painting the skin of the face, both the illuminated areas and those in shadow, which will help recreate the face's volume.

After all that, the skin layer was finished. The beard and eyes took the most time. Chuck Norris's look in his movies was that of a tough guy, like Clint Eastwood but with machine guns, hehe. So here I carefully applied the details using a fine brush. I used the same process for the hair until all the details were complete.

What did you think of the final result? Another important detail was painting the upper part of his shirt so his face wouldn't be completely exposed. Now this great hero has earned his place among all my previous drawings, and he deserves it for having marked an era and for being a martial artist at a competitive level, a true champion. Nothing could be more fitting for this drawing and its central theme than a shopping receipt, since the film is full of references to 90s consumerism, which was presented as a path to personal success. So I begin by sketching Mark Renton's face, as played by Ewan McGregor, using only a pencil.

Then I was able to start making the strokes using a pen. Fortunately, I was able to buy a pen with a light ink, which works well for creating contrast. I start by covering the first strokes with this pen, and then I add more volume using a fine-tipped marker.

Then I started making strokes, filling in all the spaces. Mark Renton in the film is a heroin addict, so I had to make his face look like someone hooked on drugs, which is why doing it in black and white was the best decision. Starting at the edges of the face, I shaped it, working my way up to the top of the head.

Finally, I refined the details inside the face, trying to solidify the expression in the eyes without losing its essence. After that, I used the darker ink marker to add more volume.

Trainspotting had a sequel, released in 2016, and it's so interesting because you can see the change of era, but the existential problems seem to have the same root. We are the generation watching our legends die, one by one, regardless of musical genre; little by little, they fade away. I believe there is no other figure in any genre as prominent as the maestro I've drawn, Willie Colon. Arranger and composer, he was one of the pillars upon which the Salsa genre relied for decades, becoming one of its architects. Of Hispanic parents but born in the United States, Willie Colon knew how to give Salsa an urban touch it lacked in other eras, bringing the spirit of the Bronx streets to the Hispanic experience, thus creating a unique fusion. He left this world a few weeks ago, and it had a profound impact on me. I created this drawing inspired by previous works on receipts, but here I've altered the original content to include the titles of his most memorable songs. Here is this tribute drawing for the Bad Boy of the Bronx.

>Somos la generación que esta viendom morir a sus leyendas, una a una, sin importar el género musical poco a poco se van apagando. Creo que No existe en otro género una figura tan resaltante, como la del maestro que he dibujado, Willie Colon, arreglista y compósitor fue una de las columnas en las cuales el género de la Salsa se apoyó durante décadas, convirtiéndose en uno de sus artífices. De padres hispanos pero nacido en Estados Unidos, Willie colon supo darle a la salsa un toque urbano que no lo tuvo en otra época, llevando el espíritu de las calles de Bronx a la experiencia hispana, creando así una fusión única. Hace pocas semanas se fue de este mundo, y en mi ser causó un gran impacto, he realizado este dibujo tomando como inspiración trabajos anteriores sobre facturas de compra, pero aquí he alterado el contenido original para poner los títulos de sus canciones más memorables. Aquí te dejo con este dibujo homenaje para el Malo del Bronx.

On a simple sheet of paper, I designed a shopping receipt. On the left, I put some well-known songs, and on the right, random dollar amounts. At the top, I wrote: The Bad Guy from the Bronx, and at the bottom, FBI reports. I left the center blank so I could better draw the sketch of his face, which I did simply with a pencil, using his 70s era—his wild years—as a reference!

>En una simple hoja de papel diseñé un factura de compra, puse al lado izquierda algunas canciones conocidas y al lado derecho puse cantidades de dolares aleatorias. En la parte superior puse la leyenda: El Malo del Bronx, y en la parte inferior, reseñas del FBI. Once I finished positioning the face sketch in the center of the paper, I began drawing with the ballpoint pen. Here, I didn't focus on using intricate strokes but rather on using lines and filling in spaces. I wanted the drawing to look like stencil art, which I often enjoy using.

I really like this pen; it's very different from others I've used before. The tip, in particular, is very smooth, and I think the ink flows easily, so my lines don't smudge on the paper, which used to happen with other pens. Here you can see how I use lines for sketching and then fill in areas where needed, like parts of the beard and mustache.

>Este bolígrafo me ha gustado mucho, es muy diferente a otros que utilizado antes, especialmente la punta es muy suave, creo que la tinta sale con fácilidad por lo que trazo no se accidenta en el papel, cosa que si me sucedía con otros. Aquí pueden ver como utilizo líneas para trazos y rellenar por completo en las zonas donde sea necesario, como parte de la barba y el bigote.

I continued adding ink to the edges of the head, especially for the hair and the shading on those sides and around the neck, which covers the barcode I added. I also added pen strokes to the top. As a final technique for the hair, I used markers, since the ink is darker and helps to create contrast and depth. And that's how it was finished.

>Continuo agregando tinta por el área de los bordes de la cabeza, especialmente haciendo el cabello y también la sombra hacia esos lados y por la parte del cuello, el cual cubre el código de barras que puse. Así también en la parte superior voy agregando trazos con bolígrafo, un último recurso que utilicé para el cabello fue utilizar marcados, ya que la tinta de este es más oscura y sirve para dar contraste y profundidad, de esta manera quedó finalizado.

What did you think of the ending? I really liked this design because it fit his aesthetic of a salsa dancer from the wildest streets of New York, the bad boy of the Bronx. Along with Hector Lavoe, he immortalized songs that became anthems. His influence on Latin music was immense, so much so that his farewell was held at St. Patrick's Cathedral, to the sound of his inseparable trombone. I hope you enjoyed this tribute. >¿Qué les ha parecido el final? me gustó mucho este diseño ya que iba con su estética de salsero de las calles más salvajes de New York, el malo del Bronx, junto a Hector Lavoe inmortalizaron canciones que se convirtieron en himnos. Su influencia en la música latina fue demasiado grande, tran grande que su despedida fue hecha en la catedral de San Patricio, al sonido de su inseparable trombon. Hello dear friends of Hive DIY, I hope you're all doing well. I recently bought some supplies I needed, like notebooks, paper, and pencils, and among those items, I also bought a folder. It's one of those wooden folders with a paperweight on one of the ends, perfect for taking notes. I thought the wooden board would be perfect for drawing and decorating, so I was inspired by Kenshin Himura from the manga Rurouni Kenshin, which is about a former samurai who became a wanderer. The drawing is done entirely with acrylic paint, and here I'll show you step by step how I did it. I hope you like the result and enjoy it. Let's get started!

La tabla de madera me pareció excelente para hacer un dibujo y decorarla, así que me inspiré en Kenshin Himura del manga Rurouni Kenshin, que trata de un antiguo samurai que se convirtió en vagabundo. To begin, I prepared the wood, just as I've done in previous projects with MDF. I painted it white to create a canvas. After that, I started sketching Kenshin's face with a pencil, trying to fill as much space as possible. Then I painted the background black so that the central drawing would stand out.

>Para empezar, preparé la madera, de la misma forma que he realizado anteriores trabajos en madera MDF, pinté con pintura blanca para formar un lienzo sobre el cual pintar. Después de eso comencé a dibujar con un lápiz el boceto del rostro de Kenshin tratando de ocupar la mayor cantidad de espacio posible. Seguidamente pinte el fondo de negro para que luego pueda resaltar el dibujo central.

Using the finest brush and black acrylic paint, I create a first outline of the drawing so I can see which areas I'll be painting. After finishing that, I begin painting the shadows on the face. Since it's in darkness, the darkest color comes first and then lightens as the face becomes more detailed.

>Con el pincel más fino y pintura acrílica negra hago un primer delineado del dibujo, así puedo ver cuales zonas estaré pintando. Luego de terminar comienzo a pintar las sombras que se proyectan en el rostro, como está en la oscuridad, el color más profundo viene de primero y luego se va aclarando a medida que el rostro se va detallando mejor.

Then I start to delve deeper into the colors of the face, although it is a cartoon, the quality of the image demands that it has its details so that the definition is the best, I really like the aesthetic of the 90s in terms of anime, not like now when it looks very artificial.

I also painted the eyes. In this case, Kenshin had a kind of dual personality. On one hand, he was a tender and kind samurai who had taken to wandering, but on the other, he had a very dark past, having participated as an assassin in a civil war, eliminating important people from the opposing side. After spilling so much blood, he decided to abandon the war and wander Japan, helping people as penance. In the drawing I'm doing, I painted his eyes yellow, a symbol that the legendary samurai has awakened.

>Tambien pinto los ojos, en este caso Kenshin tenía una especie de doble personalidad, por un lado era un tierno y amable samurai que se habia dedicado a vagar, sin embargo tenía un pasado muy oscuro, ya que había participado como sicario en una guerra civil, eliminando a persona simportantes del bando contrario. Luego de derramar tanta sangre decidio abandonar la guerra y dedicarse a vagar por Japon ayudando a la gente como penitencia. En el dibujo que estoy haciendo pinte sus ojos de amarillos, símbolo de que ha despertado el legendario samurai.

Then I painted his hair. Although he's known for being a redhead, the tone of his hair also changes, as do his eyes, turning a purple color that reflects his state of mind, as he prepares to use his sword. I gradually added touches with the brush until I covered most of it. Since I had some space left at the top, I decided to add the official anime lettering, which says Rurouni Kenshin in Japanese.

>Luego he pintado su cabello, aunque es conocido por ser pelirrojo, el tono de su cabello también cambia al igual que sus ojos, tornándose de un color púrpura que refleja el estado de su mente, el cual se prepara para utilizar su espada. Voy puntando poco a poco con el pincel hatsa cubrir la mayor parte. Como me sobró espacio en la aprte superior, le quise hacer las letras oficiales del anime, donde dice Rurouni Kenshin en japones.

What did you think of the result? The lettering turned out great; I felt like a real Japanese artisan while I was painting it, haha, even though I'm nowhere near their level of discipline. I really liked this drawing I did; it's the second time I've drawn this character, and I feel like the result turned out better with paint than with colored pencils. I hope you liked it. I was able to buy a new pad of black cardstock, which means I'll soon be doing lots of drawings to share. And today was the first one I used with this new pad. I didn't use a sketchbook; I just drew the lines directly, which will be the outline of the drawing and will help give it volume.

The silhouette of this lady isn't fully drawn but fades into shadow, with her back, neck, and face being the most visible parts. After outlining that area, I begin to add a little volume to part of her face using white pastel with very soft strokes.

Then I go down the back, like a waterfall, adding white color, here I alternate between the white of wax and also the white of charcoal, two very different shades of color and also the texture.

Next, I began to use more white wax than charcoal. The reason is that the light reflects off the skin less sharply, meaning the texture of each part of the back is visible. Using the white wax gently, I achieved this effect. However, there are small areas in the drawing that require a more intense white, and that's where I apply white charcoal to enhance the highlighting on the skin. Conversely, the right side of the drawing, which fades into darkness, I paint with even softer, barely perceptible strokes. To refine the shadows, I use black, which further darkens the background.

>Seguidamente fui imponiendo más el color blanco de cera que el carboncillo, la razón es porque el reflejo de la luz no es muy marcado sobre la piel, esto quiere decir que se puede observar el relieve en la espalda de cada parte, así que con el color blanco de cera utilizándolo suavemente se puede lograr ese efecto. Sin embargo hay pequeños puntos en el dibujo el cual si necesita que el color blanco sea más intenso, es ahí donde aplico el carboncillo blanco para lograr más ese efecto de iluminación sobre la piel. Por el contrario, el lado derecho del dibujo que se pierde en la oscuridad lo pinto con trazos a un más suaves, apenas perceptibles. Para hacer mejor las sombras utilizo el color negro, el cual puede oscurecer más el fondo.

What did you think of the ending? This drawing made me think a lot. One of the ideas that came to mind was the following paradox: The first deified human figure was woman. Since ancient times, she has been worshipped in many ways, and indeed, woman is the true creation. The paradox is that this cult of the female figure existed, yet women were treated very badly, valued no more than animals. Fortunately, thanks to their struggles and rebellious spirit, they have been able to overcome adversity and move forward. I hope that continues to happen, and that it always happens in the best way. Hello dear friends, it's been a long time since I've been here, and that's because I've been very busy. I recently returned to my profession as a teacher and I'm currently teaching classes nonstop. However, I've kept doing what I love most: drawing. I don't do it as often as I'd like, but I do enough to keep my skills sharp. I've done a portrait of Michael Jordan, the greatest basketball player of all time, on white cardstock. I used black cardstock to give the image more drama. I hope you like it.

To begin, I sketched Michael Jordan with very simple lines. I didn't do it the way I used to because I didn't think it was necessary to use guidelines. Instead, I started by outlining the edges until I completed the figure. Next, I gradually added volume to the drawing, especially to the face, where Jordan is shooting a free throw.

You can see how I begin to add volume to the drawing, especially from the top of the head. I create the drawing in a cascading, flowing style. Here I'm using white wax crayon to lighten the skin tone slightly. Then, when I need to paint parts of the face where the light is stronger, I'll add white charcoal, and finally, white paint. This way you can see that I work with different color intensity for different situations.

>Pueden ver como comienzo a darle volumen al dibujo, especialmente desde la parte superior de la cabeza, voy haciendo el dibujo en forma de cascada, fluyendo hacia abajo. Aquí utilizo el color blanco de cera, para hacer el tono de la piel solamente un poco iluminado, luego cuando tenga que hacer partes del rostro donde la luz sea más fuerte agregaré carboncillo blanco, y en última instancia pintura de color blanco. Así pueden ver que trabajo la intensidad del color de manera diferente para casos diferentes.

Now, to refine details on the face, I not only use white for the skin and to intensify the lighting, but also, in some very specific cases and opportunities, I use black, even though it's somewhat ironic since the background is black. In this way, there are moments where certain parts of the face cast very small shadows, which are difficult to highlight if you only have the black of the background, so it becomes necessary to use black in the right amount. This is how, in the eye area, some shadows give strength to the expression in Jordan's gaze.

>Ahora, para afinar detalles en el rostro, no solo utilizo el color blanco para la piel y dar intensidad a la iluminación, también en algunos casos y oportunidades muy concretas utilizo el color negro, aunque sea algo irónico ya que el fondo es negro. De dotas formas, hay momentos donde ciertas partes del rostro proyectan sombras muy pequeñas, que son difíciles de resaltar si solo se cuenta con el color negro del fondo, por lo que se hace necesario poner color negro en la medida correcta. Es así como en la zona de los ojos, algunas sombras le dan fuerza a la expresión de la mirada de Jordan.

Next, as I mentioned at the beginning, I add the white charcoal color; you can clearly see the difference between the tones. You can appreciate how both drawing techniques create the effect of looking at a photograph.

Then I paint the arms, applying the same technique as the face so that the highlights and shadows are clearly visible. I also paint the uniform, adding the iconic number 23 of the Bulls, the best team of the 90s. It's interesting how, little by little, after a few minutes, what was in my imagination begins to take shape.

>Luyego voy pintando los brazos, aplicando la misma técnica del rostro para que las luce sy sombras se puedan ver muy bien. También voy pintando el uniforme, poniendo el gran número 23 de los Bulls, el mejor equipo de la década de los 90. Es interesante como poco a poco luego de algunos minutos lo que estaba en la imaginación va tomando la forma deseada.

To finish up, I'm adding details like the hands, trying to draw each finger individually as they hold the ball. I draw the ball and fill it in with color to give it size and volume. I go over the entire drawing again little by little from the beginning, and that's how it's finished.

>Para ir finalizando voy agregando ya detalles como las manos, tratando de dibujar dedo a dedo como sujeta la pelota, la cual voy dibujando y rellenando con color para darle tamaño y también volumen. Vuelvo a repasar poco a poco todo el dibujo desde el inicio y así ha quedado finalizado.
