He tells a Union Army recruiting sergeant he is 18 and old enough to fight.
But is he - or indeed any man - ready to be thrown into the horrors of the American Civil War?
On the bloody field of the Battle of Fredericksburg, as thousands of young men in both blue and grey are brutally cut down, the boy becomes a man.
And he is thrown into a man's battle.
Captured, he stumbles across a nest of plotters who could cost the Union the war. Can he foil their plot before eventually making his way back to the home he loves?
Flags of Our Sons is a meticulously researched adventure story that brilliantly recreates the drama, passion and terror of the Civil War.
It is perfect for fans of Bernard Cornwell and Charles Frazier.

A story put to paper
Written in a simple storytellers words, this accelerated coming of age book, sets up for a series that could develop into interesting territory. The story is a bit too fast but strangely satisfying. It didn't have the crafted feel of a professional writer but I enjoyed it and it's potential immensely.
Great bood well written
Felt it covered a factual progression (for the most part) of a typical group of Union Soldiers (recruited right off the boat). It
showed the reader a different approach to the Civil War and the advantages the North had due to Industrialization and
foreigh trade.
Basic
very elementary. I thought it would be different according to the preview. Not written at a very high reading level.
Good Read
This seems like a close account of what the battles during the Civil War must have been like. It left the reader hanging at the finish though.
High Flying
A very good historical fiction piece about the Civil War. Filled with well rounded characters and real events. Well worth reading.
