Flare Network Pulse: Inspiring the Web3 Revolution

Flare Network - Connect Everything

Listen Later

Flare is a blockchain focused on providing data. It operates as a Layer-1 blockchain, similar to Ethereum, but with added data acquisition features.

Flare offers developers decentralized access to data from other blockchains and the internet, enabling them to create decentralized applications (dApps) with new use cases and monetization models. Flare uses the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), allowing Solidity-based applications written for other EVM blockchains to also be deployed on Flare.

Two core features of Flare are the Data Connector and the Flare Time Series Oracle (FTSO). The Data Connector allows external event data to be integrated into the blockchain, while the FTSO provides decentralized data streams for dApps on Flare.

FLR tokens serve as the native currency and can be delegated to FTSO data providers to support their work and earn rewards. Flare is also a staking model, where users can delegate FLR tokens to validators to secure the network.

There is also a FlareDrop program, distributing 24.2 billion FLR tokens to WFLR (Wrapped FLR) holders. Songbird is a full functional canary network for Flare that enables testing of new features. Flare has a governance system that allows FLR and SGB token holders to vote on governance proposals.
