Reverend Shelley McVea's sermon for the Candlemas, or, The Presentation of the Lord, 2 February 2020
Two prophets, Anna and Simeon, are at the temple with Jesus is presented by his parents, Joseph and Mary. The prophets proclaim that Jesus will be “a light to the Gentiles, the glory of Israel, a sign, and the hope of all those looking for redemption.” He is the fulfillment of the messages presented by earlier, flawed, messengers.
