He called China Canada’s biggest security threat during the leaders’ debate. Shortly after taking office, he travelled to Beijing praising a new strategic partnership.

He once described carbon pricing as a cornerstone of climate policy. His first act as Prime Minister was scrapping the consumer carbon tax.
