Flipping negative thoughts into positive thoughts is a skill that any of us can learn and use successfully with some practice. Let me walk you through FIVE steps on how to learn how to FLIP IT.
1. Identify and recognize the negative thoughts you’re having. Watch for the signs that negative thoughts are creeping in or trying to take over, then stop and own it. “YOU CAN'T CHANGE WHAT YOU DON'T ACKNOWLEDGE!” ~ Dr. Phil
2. Interrogate this negative thought. Ask it questions that will help debunk its presence.
3. Search for ways you can counteract this thought or find the opposite of this thought to be true. Look for evidence to contradict this thought.
4. Find gratitude and lessons learned from this negative thought or situation. Thank it, and release it. Let it go in gratitude!
5. Replace the time spent with negative thoughts with time spent thinking positive thoughts. Use journaling, affirmations, and gratitude thoughts to replace the time spent dwelling in negative thinking.
