Books Covered in this episode:

  • Northend by Ryan Ellsworth:  North Bend. It's a crime/sci-fi story about a Seattle DEA agent who is recruited by the CIA to help test an experimental mind control drug on unwitting Americans. The first issue did really well on Kickstarter and was actually chosen as their project of the day out of all current projects running, from any category. We're getting ready & super excited to launch the Kickstarter for issue #2 around the end of February/beginning of March. And it would be awesome to have a review of issue #1 to help promote the Kickstarter either before launch, or while the campaign is running.

  • EElMan Chapters 1-5: Please find attached examples of my Eelman Chronicles comics for submission to be reviewed if you can fit them in. These aren't yet published anywhere other than online PDF's but looking to complete another story or two, plus some supporting pages soon and get a physical book out soon. These are TRUE stories, all hand drawn and written by myself, all about my dad's life, and funny adventures as the last remaining Eel Catcher in the fens of Eastern England. They're very lof-fi, but hopefully that adds to the charm ;) There are LOADS more stories to tell, he's had a funny old time of it over the years, so they'll be more on the way, we have plans for 3-4 collected volumes :) Comics are available at www.gumroad.com/cspalton and the Eelman Chronicles are on twitter @eelmanchronicle & @chrisspalton3)

  • The Show by Jed McPherson It's about a gonzo reality TV program and the lunatics that create it. Think The Truman Show meets Old Boy with a healthy with Hunter S. Thompson as the showrunner.

  • Softby Diego S is a story about Margaret, a woman who has moved into a new big city to try to find her way in life. In terms of genre, it leans heavily towards slice of life and comedy. It is currently available digitally through ComiXology. By Diego S

  • PanelxPanel is a digital magazine all about looking at comics more as a medium for storytelling. Featuring essays on craft and theme, and process articles from mainstream and indie creators alike, it aims to put the emphasis on the craft of comics-making and visual storytelling. Dave Gibbons called it, "intelligent and informed analysis of the comics storytelling medium itself. The magazine I have been waiting for."
