Poems From My Heart

Flying out of cement

Listen Later

Being a woman you are raised to think a particular way by media, by society by family and sometimes it is good to stop and question what you want your own message to the next generation to be. Would it be the same one we grew up with all around us? I wrote this about how it feels so good to challenge the narrative that tries to slow you down and how good it feels to breathe.

As a brown British-Punjabi girl, you are told what to do and how to be and this poem is about smashing that stereotype. You can be whatever you want to be.
